Joshua Bassett said he saw the image of Jesus Christ in the sky while taking the hallucinogen Ayahuasca.

The 23-year-old actor-singer, appearing Wednesday on the Zach Sang Show , explained his experience in graphic detail, as he said it led him to embracing religion .

The Oceanside, California native said that he ‘struggled a lot with addiction’ at one time, ‘and there were a lot of different paths that’ he took involving multiple narcotics.

‘I would do like, magic mushrooms, I would frequently go to the beach and try to have these experiences and try to understand the truths of the world,’ Bassett said. ‘I started doing some deeper plant medicines – one of them being Ayahuasca.’

‘This is gonna get real, and I’m fine with being labeled as an insane person because even I was in denial about this for a while,’ Bassett said. ‘And I’ve done enough to know I wasn’t hallucinating: I wake up – immediately I felt naked, and by naked, I meant spiritually naked, where there was no filter, no veil.

‘And I realized that the ugliness that is in me and I saw it in everyone else in the room too, like I could see right through them.’ Bassett said he ‘realized that there are no things hidden’ as he felt his soul ‘falling to the pits of hell – a hell I do not believe in.’
