Colorado marijuana regulators issued a recall for marijuana that could be contaminated with mold, but the flagged product was sold as early as 2023.
According to a January 13 health and safety notice from the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division and the state Department of Public Health and Environment, three batches of marijuana grown and sold by Levels IV Inc. and SKL Holdings III LLC, doing business as Levels dispensaries, were found to have failed mold and yeast testing . An additional 35 marijuana batches found to be cultivated at the same time and location have also been recalled.
This is the first marijuana recall issued by the MED in 2025. Last year, nine marijuana recalls were issued in Colorado , with all but two over mold and yeast concerns.
Both medical and recreational marijuana were included in the most recent recall . All of the affected product was sold at Levels dispensaries, located at 5201 West 48th Avenue in Denver and 389 Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood. The recalled strains weren’t named by the MED, but all Levels cannabis packaging has the following cultivation license numbers: 403R-00810 (recreational) and 403-01384 (medical).
The flagged pot was sold for almost a year, from December 28, 2023, to December 11, 2024. Still, the MED advises anyone who may still have the recalled marijuana from Levels to destroy it.
"Consumers who have this affected marijuana in their possession should destroy it or return it to the Regulated Marijuana Store from which it was purchased for proper disposal. Consumers who experience adverse health effects from consuming the Regulated Marijuana should seek medical attention immediately and report the event to the Marijuana Enforcement Division by submitting a MED Reporting Form," the health and safety notice reads.Levels did not respond to a request for comment on the recall.
