The next-generation offering builds upon the Dutch medtech giant’s compressed Sense and SmartSpeed technologies. Amsterdam-based Philips designed it to deliver faster scans with higher image quality. SmartSpeed Precise improves scan speed and diagnostic image quality to extend AI-driven efficiency across the Philips MR portfolio.

Philips plans to debut the technology this week at the 2025 European Congress of Radiology (ECR 2025). It also plans to showcase its latest MR Workspace software release and its next-generation helium-free 1.5T BlueSeal MR scanner.

The latest SmartSpeed Precise enables the completion of scans up to three times faster than before, Philips says. Its dual-AI engine delivers an 80% improvement in image sharpness to enhance visualization for more confident and accurate diagnoses. With the new MR Workspace software, the technology has a zero-click workflow for less manual intervention, too.

Additionally, Philips now offers Smart Reading to integrate cloud-based, AI-driven quantitative reporting. The company’s zero-click AI solutions ensure streamlined, data-driven decision-making for clinicians by utilizing AI in MRI.

“Perfectly aligned with this year’s ECR theme, ‘Planet Radiology’ – which emphasizes better patient care while protecting the planet – Philips is tackling two critical challenges: expanding global access to precision care and advancing environmental sustainability,” said Ioannis Panagiotelis, global business leader, MRI at Philips. “By integrating high performance-enhancing AI engines across our entire portfolio of new and installed helium-free BlueSeal scanners, we are revolutionizing MRI efficiency while reducing environmental impact. These innovations ensure that more patients worldwide can access high-quality imaging, while healthcare providers benefit from more sustainable and cost-effective operations.”
