“You are what you eat” is an unfortunate truth that we all hate to hear—the foods we put inside our bodies are just as important, if not more, than what we put on them. I say this while enjoying a chocolate croissant, but it’s true. The quest for great skin often takes unexpected turns, but I believe we all eventually land on the importance of taking care of ourselves internally. It’s no surprise that the term “superfoods” is all over the Internet. Consuming foods high in vitamins, antioxidants, and healthy fats can improve skin health drastically. Let’s not forget that our skin is the largest organ in our body— let’s treat it accordingly.

My questions after I breakout have always been— is it because I wore makeup yesterday? Is it my hormones? Did I touch my face too much or fail to properly cleanse? But now I’ve added an important assessment: what did I eat? I compiled a list of the best foods for your skin, rich in antioxidants, Omega-3, Vitamins E and C, and other nutrients, as well as the not-so-great foods, which we should enjoy but in moderation.
